COF-C03 Snowflake Monitoring: Query History, Warehouses, and ACCOUNT_USAGE
About this video
Snowflake gives you several ways to monitor queries, warehouses, storage, and account activity—but choosing the wrong evidence source can lead to the wrong diagnosis. In this video, we break down how to select and interpret Snowflake monitoring evidence for the SnowPro Core COF-C03 exam. We’ll cover: Snowsight Query History Query Profile Query execution diagnostics Information Schema ACCOUNT_USAGE Monitoring latency and retention Warehouse queueing Execution time vs. elapsed time Warehouse size vs. active cluster count Idle credit consumption Query tags and cost attribution Resource Monitors Storage lifecycle monitoring Time Travel and Fail-safe considerations Account activity and audit evidence Timezone normalization Common COF-C03 monitoring mistakes One of the most important skills is knowing which monitoring source matches the question you are trying to answer. For a specific slow or failed query, Query History and Query Profile provide execution-level evidence. For recent operational checks, Information Schema can provide lower-latency metadata through its table functions. For longer-term historical analysis and auditing, ACCOUNT_USAGE provides a broader history, but candidates must understand that those views can have different latency and privilege requirements. The same reasoning applies to warehouse troubleshooting. Elapsed query time alone does not tell you whether the problem was execution, provisioning, or concurrency queueing. Likewise, a storage increase should not immediately trigger deletion without first checking retention, object history, and clone dependencies. For COF-C03, follow an evidence-first workflow: Define the symptom → capture the identifier → choose the correct source → verify latency and privileges → record the evidence → make the change → validate the result The goal is to diagnose the system from measurable evidence rather than changing configuration based on assumptions. #Snowflake #COFC03 #SnowProCore
