About this video

Logging into Snowflake successfully does not automatically mean you have permission to use a warehouse or query a table. In this video, we break down how Snowflake access control actually works and how to reason through organizations, accounts, roles, privileges, and securable objects for the SnowPro Core COF-C03 exam. We’ll cover: * Authentication vs. authorization * Snowflake organizations and account boundaries * Account roles and database roles * Role hierarchies * Warehouse, database, and schema USAGE privileges * SELECT and OWNERSHIP * System-defined and custom functional roles * Least-privilege access design * Default roles and active roles * Future grants * Administrative role separation * Common Snowflake access failures One of the most important COF-C03 skills is being able to trace the complete access path. A user may have SELECT on a table and still be unable to query it because warehouse USAGE, database USAGE, schema USAGE, the active role, or another part of the privilege chain is missing. We’ll also look at why ACCOUNTADMIN should not be the default solution to access problems and how functional role hierarchies create a more secure and auditable Snowflake environment. For the exam, focus less on memorizing role names and more on understanding how a user reaches an object through roles and cumulative privileges. #Snowflake #COFC03 #SnowProCore
